What makes your business unique?

Unlike a lot of restaurants, we prepare almost everything from scratch... freshly made breakfast, slices of bread and breakfast burritos in the morning to lunches on Tuesdays, we make everything as homemade as possible- which tastes better and is healthier without all the preservatives. And of course, we strive to give the best customer service we possibly can!

When did you guys move to Ellinwood for business?

In 2014, my husband, Rod and I decided to leave law enforcement and embark on a new path. At the time, the teen center, Fire Escape, was up for sale. We thought that running a coffee shop/restaurant might be an asset for Ellinwood Main Street and give us an opportunity to connect with the community in a fun and positive way.

Briefly describe your career path.

About a year ago we started Holy Smokes BBQ for a side catering business and we have really enjoyed it. We have catered everything from taco bar’s & pasta meals to smoked meats w/ all the sides. We plan on continuing to expand on the catering side of our business.

What do you do in your free time in Ellinwood?

Free time? What is that? I think everyone who owns their own business would agree there is not much downtime. We enjoy watching our kids in their sporting events and simply spending quality time together at home.
