Earlier this month, the Central Kansas Dream Center presented as one of three charities invited to speak at the summer meeting for the 100 People Who Care group. After all three had presented, the members of the philanthropic group voted and named the CKDC as the winner of all their members’ donations. Since each member gives a $100 donation and there are over 100 members, the Dream Center will be receiving more than $10,400 in gifts. “A Dream Center is an umbrella ministry that exists to meet the needs of the area it serves. Great Bend – The United Way of Central Kansas has established a long-term recovery fund to assist those individuals impacted by the May 16, 2017, tornadoes that impacted Pawnee Rock and rural Barton County. One hundred percent of all funds donated will go directly to the victims. “The immediate support of our local aid organizations and volunteers is astounding. The Barton County Commissioners will officially open the K4 Scenic Byway Overlook at 1:30 p.m., Monday, May 22, 2017. Located on K4 Highway, the Overlook is about eight miles east of Hoisington, Kansas. With limited parking onsite, the County will sponsor a bus leaving from the Courthouse at 1:00 p.m. and from the Kansas Wetlands Education Center at approximately 1:10 p.m. that day.
