Ellinwood Chamber creates local committee to help raise funds for an Electronic Sign Project

We have some ELECTRIFYING NEWS!!!

There has been a group interested in helping to improve the Chamber’s ability to post public notices. The sign at the “Y” is aged, difficult to manage, and has very limited capabilities. From that interest group a committee was formed by members of the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, and American Legion. If you, or a club you’re involved with, are interested in joining this group or adding your input please let us know. We have also titled the project as the “Ellinwood Electronic Sign Project.” The committee has the ambition of installing a modest but adequate electronic sign on the southeast corner of the intersection of Main and Santa Fe (56 HWY), by the signal light. Currently the plan is for a 6’ X 8’ sign, one sided, with good enough clarity that it would be able to handle both images and smaller print with good readability. We have researched possible options with the sign and determined a fund-raising goal to initially install the sign and to provide some funds for the expected maintenance of the sign. That goal is $50,000 and we are beginning some fund-raising activities to reach that goal. Here’s an illustration of similar signs (note may not exactly be what we are looking at but similar):

A portion of the fund-raising is expected to come from grants but a good portion will come from the committee’s efforts in direct fund-raising. The fundraising has already had a notable memorial gift and is already at nearly 8% of the goal. Two current fundraising efforts for this project are:

  • Lucky 13 Gun Raffle featuring a raffle that will begin ticket sales on or about June 24th with the drawing to be held August 20th at the next noted event.

  • 3-Person Scramble Golf Tournament on August 20th at Grove Park Golf Course, registration is open and hole sponsors are currently available. MORE INFO HERE

Watch for those flyers and more information about those on the Chamber of Commerce Facebook page, website, and Chamber eblasts. The Chamber of Commerce may have other opportunities for Chamber Members to help with the fundraising and also receive advertisement/announcement space once

the sign is operational. And, we are also seeking an experienced grant writer to help with the project. Please email the Chamber of Commerce if you are interested at info@ellinwoodchamber.com
