Hotel Wolf

(Listed on the State and National Registers)

Ellinwood's 1894 Hotel Wolf now houses two unique shops, Starr Antiques and Elliott Antiques and Interiors directly over a portion of the Ellinwood Underground World. The Hotel itself is rich in town history, boasting of tin ceilings, a shooting, a grand staircase, and Sunflower Dining room which for many years was the height of dining elegance. It has a terrazzo floor and outdoor patio. Over the years, the Wolf Block provided the Bank of Ellinwood, City Offices, Police Department, Sunflower Sample Room, Public Library, Drummer rooms as well as the hotel lobby and sleeping rooms upstairs.

Today the former hotel lobby and the dining room make up Starr Antiques with a variety of country and primitive pieces. It has been a cornerstone business in Ellinwood over a quarter century. "Sally" a nationally known mannequin quietly sits outside the south hotel door advising visitors the shop is open and they are welcome.

Elliott Antiques and Interiors specializes in Victorian elegance also offering a chandelier display. Works of famous cabinetmakers may be found from time to time as well as fabrics for 'just that place' and stained glass originals.
